Merge Component

Learn how the Merge pipeline node combines object inputs with shallow or deep merge strategies, or concatenates arrays, and how input order affects results.

Last updated:

The Merge Component allows you to bring together data from different branches of your pipeline. It supports several strategies for how the data should be combined.

StrategyenumHow to combine the inputs.

🔄 Merge Strategies

  1. Object Merge (Shallow): Uses Object.assign to combine all input objects. Top-level keys from later inputs overwrite those from earlier ones.
  2. Deep Merge: Recursively merges objects. If both inputs have a nested object at the same key, those objects are also merged instead of overwritten.
  3. Array Concatenation: If all inputs are arrays, they are joined into a single flat array.

🛠️ Use Case: Data Enrichment

Connect an API Ingest node and a JSON Input node to a Merge node using the Deep Merge strategy to enrich local data with real-time information from an external service.

🚀 Pro Tip

Ensure your upstream nodes produce compatible data structures (e.g., all objects or all arrays) to avoid unexpected results during a merge.
