A free, browser-based data workspace for developers and data professionals to explore, validate, convert, and visualize JSON, CSV, and NDJSON locally.
DataLensia is a privacy-first data visualization and transformation platform. Core tools process JSON, CSV, and NDJSON files in your browser without a DataLensia file-processing backend, and no account or name is required. Production Vercel Analytics and Microsoft Clarity collect basic usage information, such as page visits and interactions. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Use the JSON to Mermaid converter to turn JSON structures into diagrams and export Mermaid source, SVG, or PNG for documentation. Start with the JSON to Mermaid example or browse all tools. Shared URLs, mock endpoints, API requests, and optional GitHub sync can transmit data; how data is handled explains these boundaries.
Instant Processing
Data is parsed and visualized in milliseconds using Web Workers for non-blocking performance.
Privacy-First Architecture
Core file operations run in your browser without a DataLensia processing backend. No account is needed; production analytics collect basic usage events.
Automatic Schema Detection
Intelligent type inference and schema recognition from uploaded data structures, without manual configuration.
Core Capabilities
DataLensia provides a comprehensive suite of data tools designed for professional workflows. Each tool operates independently and can be accessed directly from the workspace.
Data Upload and Smart Recognition
Upload data files via drag-and-drop, file selection, or direct paste. DataLensia accepts JSON, CSV, NDJSON, and JSON-LD formats. Upon upload, the platform automatically identifies the file type, detects delimiters for CSV files, and recognizes nested JSON structures. A Smart Paste feature allows pasting raw data directly into the workspace, where format detection occurs automatically — no manual format selection required.
Automatic Format Detection
The intelligent parser examines file content to determine data structure, encoding, and formatting conventions. For CSV inputs, it identifies separator characters, quote styles, and header rows. For JSON data, it detects whether the content is a single object, an array of objects, newline-delimited records, or JSON-LD linked data. Schema inference runs in parallel, mapping field names, types (string, number, boolean, null, nested object, array), and statistical distributions — all without user intervention.
JSON Comparison
The JSON Comparator tool performs a deep, structural diff between two JSON documents. It highlights added, removed, and modified fields at every nesting level. Differences are presented in a side-by-side or unified view with color-coded markers for clarity. The comparison engine handles complex nested structures, arrays with reordered elements, and type mismatches. This is useful for debugging API responses, validating configuration changes, and auditing data migrations.
JSON Schema Generation
Generate standards-compliant JSON Schema from any uploaded JSON data. The Schema Generator analyzes the structure of your JSON documents, infers property types, detects required fields, and produces a valid JSON Schema definition. This is useful for API documentation, contract validation, form generation, and data governance workflows. The generated schema follows the JSON Schema Draft specification and can be exported for use in external validation systems.
JSON Conversion Across 18+ Formats
The JSON Converter transforms JSON data into a wide range of output formats, including CSV, XML, YAML, TOML, SQL INSERT statements, TypeScript interfaces, Go structs, Python dataclasses, PHP arrays, Markdown tables, HTML tables, and more. Each conversion is performed client-side with full structure preservation. The converter handles nested objects, arrays, and mixed types with appropriate flattening and serialization strategies for each target format.
JSON Validation & Error Detection
The JSON Validator provides instant, real-time syntax validation with detailed error reporting. It pinpoints exact error locations with line and column numbers, displays contextual code snippets around errors, and detects common issues like trailing commas, single quotes, unquoted keys, comments, and duplicate property names. The tool includes an intelligent auto-fix feature that attempts to repair common JSON formatting problems automatically. Additional features include JSON formatting (pretty-print), minification, alphabetical key sorting, clipboard paste support, file upload, and comprehensive structural analysis with type distribution statistics. File validation runs in your browser; production usage analytics are separate and described in our Privacy Policy.
Large Dataset Processing
DataLensia is engineered to handle large datasets efficiently. File parsing is offloaded to dedicated Web Workers, preventing UI blocking during processing. Progressive rendering ensures that visualizations begin appearing as data streams in, rather than waiting for full parsing completion. Memory-efficient data structures and virtual scrolling keep the interface responsive even with files containing hundreds of thousands of records. A progress indicator shows real-time parsing status for larger files.
Interactive Data Exploration
Once data is loaded, the Data Explorer provides filtering, sorting, and search capabilities across all fields. Users can apply multiple filters simultaneously, perform regex-based text searches, and sort by any column. Field-level statistics including value distribution, null counts, and type breakdowns are calculated automatically. The exploration interface supports both tabular and tree views, making it suitable for flat datasets as well as deeply nested JSON structures.
Visualization and Charting
DataLensia generates interactive visualizations including bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, pie charts, treemaps, Sankey diagrams, and node-link graphs. Visualization types are suggested automatically based on data shape and field types. Charts support hover tooltips, zoom, pan, and export to image. The visualization engine uses D3.js for rendering, ensuring high performance and standards-compliant SVG output for professional use.
Markdown Annotations & Workspace Notes
Keep your insights organized with integrated Markdown notes. Each workspace includes a dedicated annotations panel where you can document your findings, describe data transformations, or maintain a changelog of your analysis. The feature-rich editor supports full Markdown syntax, real-time statistics (word and character count), and focus mode for deep work. Notes are persisted directly within your browser-based workspace, ensuring your analysis remains private and synchronized with your data.
GitHub Synchronization
Link your workspaces to a GitHub repository for remote backup and collaboration. DataLensia implements a pragmatic manual synchronization flow with SHA-based conflict detection, branch mismatch identification, and conflict resolution options like "Save Remote as Copy". You can push local changes, pull remote updates, and manage synchronization with confidence. The Global Sync Dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of synchronization status across all your workspaces, allowing for efficient batch operations while maintaining a local-first workflow.
Client-Side Architecture and Data Privacy
Core file operations — upload, parsing, visualization, and export — happen in your browser without a DataLensia file-processing backend. You can use the core tools without an account or giving your name. In production, Vercel Analytics and Microsoft Clarity collect basic usage events. Sharing and remote features can send data elsewhere. We mark editors and data previews for Clarity masking; see the Privacy Policy for details.
Browser Security Model
Core file processing runs in your browser, so DataLensia does not need a central store for uploaded datasets. Your browser and the services you choose to connect still affect privacy. Shared links contain data in their URLs; API requests and GitHub Sync send data to the selected service. Read the Privacy Policy before sharing sensitive data.
Developer Productivity & Optimized Workflow
We understand that developers value speed and friction-less tools. DataLensia is designed to be the "Swiss Army Knife" for data. The platform features keyboard shortcuts for common actions, a command palette for rapid tool switching, and a persistent "Workspace" state that survives accidental page refreshes. Our integration with GitHub allows you to maintain a local-first development cycle while still having the peace of mind that your complex transformation mappings and notes are backed up to a version-controlled repository.
